Scope of Responsibility and Acceptance Criteria for Turnkey Projects
The most common problem in turnkey projects is that acceptance criteria are not clearly defined in advance. It is recommended to specify in the contract: product specifications during commissioning, production capacity benchmarks, yield thresholds, training hours, warranty scope, and exclusions. For cross-border projects, also agree on installation timelines, technician travel costs, local utility coordination, and improvement deadlines if acceptance fails. The clearer the documentation, the fewer disputes later.
Plant Conditions and Workflow Are Often Underestimated Costs
Workflow planning directly affects actual production capacity, not just aesthetics. From raw material intake, pre-processing, forming, filling, cooking or heating, packaging, to shipping, if the workflow has backtracking or crossing paths, labor and time costs will eat into capacity. Regarding electrical specifications, the total amperage and voltage of equipment such as continuous egg-cooking forming lines and filling machines must be confirmed before construction, otherwise the cost of pulling additional power later can be staggering. These prerequisite needs should be included in the early stages of turnkey plant planning.
Timeline and Local Support for Cross-Border Projects
Equipment installation and commissioning timelines are often delayed by shipping and customs clearance, lifting space after machine arrival, and scheduling with local electrical and plumbing contractors. For Southeast Asian markets such as Thailand, it is recommended that buyers confirm the plant's electrical frequency, grounding method, and voltage compatibility in advance, and reserve translation and operator staffing for when technicians arrive. Training hours and content should also be clearly defined in the contract to avoid the dilemma of 'installed but not usable.'
