The duration of installation and commissioning mainly depends on three variables. First, the readiness of the plant itself, including whether the power supply, water supply and drainage, compressed air, and floor load-bearing capacity are in place. Second, the degree of equipment customization: standard machines have shorter lead times, while fully customized lines require additional time for design and trial runs. Third, whether the product formula and packaging specifications have been finalized, as this directly affects the number of adjustment runs during commissioning. Buyers should prepare plant drawings and product specifications during the inquiry stage to avoid schedule delays caused by repeated information exchanges later.
Five Main Stages and Buyer Preparation Items
Plant Preparation and Engineering Interfaces
Confirm that the power capacity, water supply and drainage, steam or gas, compressed air system, and floor load-bearing capacity match the equipment requirements. If this stage is not completed, installation cannot proceed after equipment arrives.
Equipment Delivery and Positioning
Equipment arrives in batches according to the delivery sequence. Buyers need to arrange unloading space, staging areas, and temporary storage. For overseas projects, customs clearance and inland transportation coordination windows must be confirmed in advance.
Individual Machine Testing and Dry Run
Check each machine's mechanical operation, electrical controls, and safety devices one by one. No materials are fed during this stage. Buyers can assign operators to familiarize themselves with machine structure and basic maintenance.
Full-Line Integration and Material Feed Trial
Conduct continuous production tests with actual products, adjusting output, filling accuracy, and forming quality. This stage is where bottlenecks are most likely to be discovered, so buffer time should be reserved.
Personnel Training and Acceptance Handover
The supplier provides training for operators, quality control, and maintenance personnel, and completes the handover of acceptance documents and warranty terms as the basis for subsequent maintenance.
How Buyers Can Reduce Schedule Risks
Schedule delays are mostly caused by information asymmetry and unclear interface responsibilities. It is recommended that buyers specify the start date, completion conditions, and delay responsibilities for each stage in the contract, and require the supplier to provide a Gantt chart or milestone table. For overseas projects, confirm technician travel visas, flights, and local translation support in advance to avoid administrative procedures blocking the commissioning window. If the plant is not yet completed, agree on phased delivery with the supplier, completing machines that do not require plant conditions first to shorten overall waiting time.
