CE is a mandatory conformity mark in the EU, covering requirements such as the Machinery Directive, Low Voltage Directive, and Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive. Many buyers mistakenly believe that 'having CE means it is globally accepted,' but in reality, CE has no legal effect outside the EU. Most Southeast Asian countries develop their own standards based on European or US regulations. Thailand has additional TISI industrial standards and food safety regulations for food machinery. Before purchasing, buyers should confirm whether the supplier has completed a full assessment according to the EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, rather than simply affixing the mark.

It is recommended to provide the target market country during the inquiry stage and ask the supplier to list the compliance documents they can provide, including CE Declarations of Conformity, material test reports, and electrical safety certificates. For food contact machinery such as egg processing equipment and filling machines, material certificates are especially critical. If the supplier cannot provide corresponding documents for a specific country, the buyer bears the risk of customs clearance and acceptance issues. For complete plant projects, the allocation of regulatory responsibilities should be clearly defined in the contract to avoid future disputes.
